Semester 1 | Week 9
This week, as part of their Drawing module, second-year students begin four weeks dedicated to the use of sketchbooks for observational drawing.

In my view, the humble sketchbook is an illustrator’s greatest research tool. A regular practice of observational drawing not only accelerates the development of your visual language but also deepens your understanding of how images—and the world they represent—function.

If you’re an illustrator and you’re not keeping a sketchbook filled with regular observational work, it might be time for a little creative reality check!
