Final‑Stretch HousekeepingAs we move into the final stretch of the 2025/26 academic year, it’s bananas to realise how near to the end of the semester we are.
We’re welcoming Week 10, which means Week 12 is suddenly not very far away (that is how weeks work). With that comes a number of important submission deadlines.
First Year | ILLU4050 & ILLU4060Second Year | ILLU5050Deadline: 12/05/26 — 4pm
We’ll talk through submission logistics closer to the time. For now, this is what you should be concentrating on:
Third Years, your deadline comes a little later, as your final hand‑in is tied to the Degree Show.
For now: keep going. You’re nearly there.

Bring your current brief to the best, most resolved conclusion you can.
This is about clarity, polish, and intent — not cramming in last‑minute ideas. - Revisit feedback
Look back over formative feedback from earlier briefs and see where small amendments or additions could meaningfully strengthen your work. - Keep your site up to date
Don’t leave everything until the final week. Get work online, organised, and clearly presented as you go — Future You will be grateful.

An Audience with Nick Moffatt

This week we welcome renowned illustrator Nick Moffat.
Nick has been a freelance illustrator for over 20 years, working across film, television, advertising, and animation. His passion for storytelling and narrative is at the heart of everything he creates. Nick specialises in illustration for children's fiction, and in 2022, his book cover designs were highly commended at the World Illustration Awards. Since then, he has illustrated over 20 children’s books and has just completed a 200-page graphic novel for children, set for release this year. His impressive list of clients includes Google, BBC, Paramount Pictures, Virgin Holidays, LEGO, Warner Bros, The Guardian, and Microsoft. Nick’s work has even graced projects featuring iconic characters—fans of the eccentric Derek Zoolander might be familiar with one of his more unusual commissions! Nick and our very own Dwayne have enjoyed a bromance since meeting in 2003 while working as greeting card cartoonists. Their shared love of Owen Wilson and Jamie Hewlett forged a lasting friendship that continues to this day.
